Waveney Valley Canoe Club caters for both recreational and competitive paddlers who wish to take part in all forms of canoeing and kayaking in and around Bungay and the River Waveney. The club is based at the Bungay Riverside Centre, on Staithe Road, Bungay.

Activities take place all year round, largely river- based during the summer while in the winter, pool sessions at Archbishop Sancroft High School in Harleston allow beginners and experienced paddlers alike to receive coaching and practise skills and technique in warm water conditions. We welcome newcomers to the sport and have qualified instructors who can provide coaching to paddlers of all ages and ability levels.

At Bungay, we have a well-stocked boat shed with a variety of modern canoes, kayaks, paddles and safety equipment available to all members, allowing them to participate without the need to invest in equipment. There are also changing rooms equipped with showers.

Our activities are firmly based on British Canoeing accredited skills courses provided by club coaches, who are highly qualified volunteers. Individual courses are tailored to junior or adult paddlers and build skills from beginner to advanced level. These skills enhance our enjoyment of paddling and enable us to care for each other’s safety on the water. If interested, members are encouraged and supported in developing coaching skills. This helps to provide a firm foundation for the club’s future.

The club has no postal address so all correspondence must be with one of its officers. To contact them, view the contact page.

Waveney Valley Canoe Club is affilliated to British Canoeing, the national governing body for paddlesport in England.
